Hello ALL! I hope that everyone is having a fun summer so far :)
Today I want to share with you a guest post from the lovely Michelle from the SKANA SPA, in upstate New York.
We all know that I love DIY's because they're easy and because I love using all natural ingredients. So when Michelle contacted me earlier this week about contributing some of her expert knowledge about skin care to A Beauty Piece, I jumped at the chance to share her ideas with you guys!
The recipe she suggests for glowing summer skin is super easy and very affordable. The recipe requires yogurt and so I'd love to suggest my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE YOGURT for the recipe. So the only yogurt I consume and use for home remedies is: Skotidakis Greek Yogurt, it is simply amazing. So I hope you guys try it out.

DIY Mask for Glowing Summer Skin
Summer skin care is essential. Keeping your skin healthy and glowing when it’s hot, humid or dry outside will make you much more excited to spend the day at the beach or a barbecue. If your skin is naturally dry, a treatment that gives your complexion more moisture will contribute to a healthy complexion. For oily complexions, a mask that balances the oil in your skin will help you maintain a summery glow without risking breakouts. Keeping your skin protected from the harsh rays of the sun is a must no matter what type of skin you have.
To keep your skin in its best shape this summer, try this DIY facial mask that is quick and easy to make at home. Thanks to the experts at Skana spa of the New York Resort Turning Stone who have contributed this recipe.
- 1 cup of all-natural yogurt
- ½ cup of oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Mix these ingredients together and apply on your skin for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash the mask off with a washcloth soaked in warm water.
Oatmeal works as a gentle exfoliant that rids your pores of dirt, impurities and excess oil. Yogurt is beneficial in that it provides your skin with zinc, which is an antibacterial mineral that can remove pimples and blemishes from your skin and get rid of dark circles around your eyes. Yogurt is also a natural moisturizer that brightens the skin and can even your complexion, particularly in the summer months. Honey is effective for treating acne as well, and can lighten skin blemishes.
This all-natural mask recipe is made from ingredients that are free from chemicals like parabens, fillers or harmful chemicals that may cause breakouts and irritation if you have sensitive skin. The harsh ingredients found in many popular face masks or skin treatments can also disrupt the natural production of your hormones, and cause other health problems like fatigue.
The mask is safe to use about twice a week to maintain your beautiful summer complexion. Once you make the mask, store it in an airtight jar in your refrigerator for future use. Remember to wear a chemical-free sunscreen before going outdoors. Here’s to flawless summer skin!
