Kissable Lips: 5 Luscious Lip Scrubs

Now that summer is here, most women like to wear bright, bold and colorful lipstick, but that can draw unwanted attention to   parched lips. Dry cracked lips can be embarrassing and even painful.Taking care of your pucker is important and you don't have to shell out a lot of cash on expensive balms and serums. Instead try some homemade, nutrient rich (and might I add delicious) lip scrubs that will restore your pout to its former glory.

The goal is to gently exfoliate to remove dead skin and also hydrate the lips to make the ultra luscious and kissably smooth.
I love love love DYI , so of course these recipes can be mixed up right in your kitchen using natural ingredients with vitamins and antioxidants. Give 'em a try.

Here are my 5 favs:

A Sweet like Honey Lip Scrub

1 tsp Honey
1 tsp Olive Oil
1 tsp Brown Sugar

Combine olive oil and sugar together and add honey to form a paste. Gently brush over lips in circular motions for about a minute. Wipe off and apply a thin layer of honey to lips for conditioning.

Sugary Sweet Coconut  Lip Scrub

1 tsp Coconut oil ( solid in natural state)
1 tsp Brown Sugar
1 tsp honey

Combine coconut oil and honey until well mixed. Add brown sugar to form a paste and let scrub sit for 10 minutes. Then apply to lips. Start to scrub in circular motions very gently for one minute. Wipe off and apply a thin layer of honey to lips for conditioning.

A Brightening Coffee Scrub

1 tsp Ground Coffee
1 tsp Olive Oil

Combine both ingredients and rub over lips in circular motions. I found it is easier to use a toothbrush

Moisture Lock Salty Scrub

1 tsp Coconut Oil
1 tsp Sea Salt

This scrub locks in moisture like no other. Combine both ingredients and rub over lips in circular motions and voila! You'll be on your way to juicy lips.

Vitamin C Boost Lip Scrub

1 tbsp Honey
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tbsp Granulated Sugar
Like the other scrubs listed above combine all ingredients and gently exfoliate the lips. The lemon gives a vitamin C boost to the lips that will help keep them soft and supple. And it tastes great too.

As you can see, a lip scrub consists of two main ingredients, a coarse exfoliator such as sugar or salt, and a moisturizer that hydrates and adds vitamins, such as honey and oils. You can of course use any type of products you like and add things like milk, petroleum jelly,mint... These are just some of my favorites. I hope you enjoyed it and comment below to let me know what you think!
