I hope everyone is enjoying Summer 2013! I know I am! My blogging experience so far has been amazing and I love the feedback that I'm getting from readers and fellow bloggers. That said, I've recently discovered a blog that I absolutely love and I'd love to share it with you! Anyway, today's post is going to be a sum up of some of my favorite drugstore foundations. I love trying out new products from the drugstore and from that I've been able to try quite a few foundations- some I love and some I don't. Here's what is on my list of faves and why. I will also share some tips for picking out the perfect shade for you!
TIPS for picking out the perfect shade:
- Find the undertone in your skin: you will either have a pink or yellow undertone. For those of you who see pink and yellow in your skin, your shade would be a neutral one.
- Know your type of skin: dry, oily, combination or normal. A lot of companies come our with more than one kind of foundation to suit dry types or oily types, etc...
- Match your foundation color to your chest instead of your face or neck. We normally have a little more discoloration or redness in our face and our neck is generally lighter than the rest of the body. For a uniform look, match it to your chest so you don't end up with your face looking disassociated from the rest of you.
Best Drugstore Foundations:
L'Oréal True Match. I love this foundation and I use it on a daily basis. It is a liquid foundation with medium-full coverage and the coverage can be built to suit your needs. The consistency is light and the product goes on really smooth-wether you use a primer before or not. My skin is dry and sensitive and I have never had any issue with this product. I love that it comes in 16 different shades with the option to choose W-Warm, C-Cool, and N-Neutral. As for lasting power, I can wear it for 10 hours with minimal touch ups and it looks good. I also love the L'oréal True Match LUMI foundation if I want a more dewy luminous look.
Revlon Photo Ready Foundation. This foundation is really good for people like me with sensitive skin. It is fragrance free, and has an added bonus of UV protection SPF 20. I really love that this foundation comes with the option to choose your skin type: dry, oily or combination. It is very similar to L'Oréal True Match in consistency, it just feels a little lighter on the skin (not that L'Oréal True Match feels heavy). The coverage is medium-full and it builds really easily to suit your needs. I also love that it comes in pump , so thats a bonus for me. I use this foundation on a daily basis interchangeably with my first pick mentioned above.
Revlon ColorStay Whipped Foundation. At first I thought this foundation was too thick and heavy when I tried it. On the skin though it says a different story. This is such a long wearing foundation and as the day goes on the better and better it looks. It is a buildable to full coverage product and it leaves a beautiful soft matte finish on the skin. Revlon claims that it lasts for 24 hours and I would be inclined to believe them. I personally haven't ever worn my makeup for that long, but I can say that when I wear this foundation I still look great when I'm ready to take it all off at the end of the day.
