All winter, our skin gets dry, flaky and really rough. I have really dry skin to begin with and oh boy don't even get me started. By the time summer comes around I have to do some major work to get my legs, arms, back, stomach...I mean basically my whole body silky, smooth and super soft.
I use body scrubs and a lot of moisturizer to give my skin a beautiful sun kissed glow. That way I know I will feel my best in my flirty and flowing summer attire.

So in this post I will talk about my absolute favourite body scrubs:

Glowing Body scrub:

1 part honey
1 part ground coffee
1 part sugar
1 part olive oil
2 parts coarse sea salt

* I also like to add some calming essential oils such as lavender or orange for the added benefit of relaxing aromatherapy.

Combine the honey, gound coffee, sugar, and olive oil until they form a thick paste. Then add the sea salt and if you choose some sweet smelling essential oils. It is as simple as that. You use this in the shower on any area of your body. You can use a body brush, a loofah or your hands in circular motions and you will have sexy silky skin in no time.

This scrub is my ultimate favourite one because its exfoliates, the sugar and salt are use to slough all the dead skin away. The olive oil is an amazing moisturizer and locks in tons of hydration. The coffee in this scrub helps blood circulation and some believe can even help reduce cellulite. Lastly, the honey leaves great antioxidants on the new layer of skin we've just uncovered. In my book , this is an A+ !

Maximum Moisture Scrub:

1 part Coconut oil
1 part Jojoba oil and/or olive oil
1/2 part Vitamin E oil
2 parts coarse Sea Salt

Combine all ingredients until well blended. Apply to wet skin in circular motions.

As you can tell this scrub is much simpler to prepare. You have the exfoliant which is the salt and tons of hydrating oils. The high fat content in this scrub will leave your skin very supple and baby smooth. The vitamin E oil also aids in preventing stretch marks and helps tighten and firm the skin so now you have an extra boost of confidence rocking your beach body.

I am such a big fan of at home DYI beauty tips because I think that what better ingredients to use than the ones Mother Nature supplied us with? Not to mention that they are very affordable ;)

But just in case you don't have the time or patience to create your own at home spa service , then here are some inexpensive alternatives that I also love and I hope you will too.

  • St-Ives Apricot scrub ( 4$ drugstores)
  • Victoria's Secret Smoothing body scrub ( 10$ VS Stores) * they come in tons of yummy scents
  • Cashmere Golden Sugar Scrub from Bath & Body Works (14$ Bath & Body Works
  • Ocean Salt by Lush (30$ at Lush) 
So there you have it! Those are the amazing scrubs I live by and trust to exfoliate my dry skin. I recommend using a body scrub only about once a week. Gentler scrubs such as the St-Ives Apricot scrub and both the Bath & Body Works and Vicotria's Secret options mentioned above can be used twice a week or so, but as a general rule coarser exfoliants should be used much less frequently. 

For skin conditioning, I often use coconut oil or argan oil to keep my skin smooth and soft. My all time favorite lotion though is my Vaseline Cocoa Butter Body Cream and now it also comes in an oil/gel form (sold at Wal-Mart) and a Spray-and-go format. Woohoo !! :)
