All About Eyebrows: A How-To Guide

A well defined eyebrow can seriously enhance your face and make all the difference in how you look. A lot of women really underestimate the power of beautiful eyebrows but the right shape is as good as gold.

I definitely prefer a fuller eyebrow ( I think it looks more natural and much more youthful)but whether you prefer thick eyebrows or thinner ones I've put together a guide that can help you get the right shape for your face. Here's how:

1. Decide what type of eyebrows you like, look through magazines or online pictures of celebrities to find one that you might like. In this post I've chosen Megan Fox and Kim Kardashian as references as they have the type of full eyebrow I prefer.

2. When you shape your eyebrows yourself you will need a spoolie or a brow comb, eyebrow scissors and a pair of tweezers (Tweezerman has good ones, sold at drugstores).

3. To begin, you need to trim your eyebrows. Start to comb your eyebrow hair upward using the spoolie and trim any hairs that are longer than your eyebrow shape.

4. The next part is determining how to shape them. You may need a pencil or a makeup brush. What you will do is align the pencil with the points mentioned (see picture below) and you can proceed to shaping. So as you can see in this picture:

Step 1: determine where to start the brow. I suggest to decide how wide or narrow you would like the bridge of your nose to look and that is where the start of the eyebrow should be. Many people think that you should start your eyebrow where the edge of your nostril would align in your brow but I think that leaves the eyebrows too wide-set apart and giving the illusion of a wider nose. ( See line 1 on picture)

Step 2: Using the pencil, from the edge of your nose drag the pencil so that it touches the outer part of the iris. This is the highest point in your arch. See line 2 on picture)

Step 3: Still from the edge of the nose, drag the pencil so that it aligns with the outer corner of your eye, and this is where the eyebrow should end. (See line 3 on picture)

5.Using these guidelines, pluck out the hairs above and below the brows grabbing a couple at a time. DO NOT OVERPLUCK, try to keep it full and natural.

If you are to afraid to make a mistake, you can get your eyebrows waxed or threaded by a professional first and use these tips as a guide for cleaning them up from then on.
